First developed in the late 2010s, it is structurally based on the native GIP sequence with key modifications, including non-natural amino acid substitutions and the attachment of a C20 fatty diacid moiety via a linker at position 20. This lipidation enables strong albumin binding, significantly prolonging its half-life and enhancing resistance to enzymatic degradation by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV).
